Known throughout London as ‘Biscuit Town', 150 years ago this glorious period building was home to Peek Frean & Co. Ltd's 10 acre confectionary HQ. Making everything from Garibaldis to bourbons and chocolate-topped digestives until the end of the 1980s, their incredible aroma would fill the air for miles around. A century later, the grand space has been revitalised and refurbished and is now home to one of Workspace's most characterful locations, The Biscuit Factory - and is still, we like to think, just as sweet.
Minutes from Bermondsey tube station, The Biscuit Factory mixes original period features with modern touches in a collection of industrial-style buildings, each with their own unique feel. With renowned independent Gaff Cafe for delicious barista coffee, morning pastries, mouth watering sandwiches, juices and all-important homemade cakes, you are spoiled for choice steps from your office door. If you fancy a wander, you can venture nearby to Monmouth Coffee for one of the finest flat whites in the city. Just a few doors down is Little Bread Pedlar, with its perfect pastries, including a flawless cinnamon bun for an indulgent on-the-go breakfast.
With its own gym and climbing wall, The Biscuit Factory is well kitted out for workouts and letting off steam, but we also recommend putting on your running shoes and heading off for a riverside jog down the Thames pathway or in neighbouring Southwark Park, which has its own athletics track and tennis courts.
