The Empire Room commands attention with its soaring ceilings and crystal chandeliers that catch the afternoon light streaming through floor-length windows. We've hosted countless celebrations in this magnificent space, from golden wedding anniversaries to product launches, and each event takes on the room's inherent grandeur. Rich burgundy and gold carpets anchor the space with intricate Victorian patterns that mirror the ornate ceiling details above. The north and west-facing windows flood the room with natural light throughout the day, while our original wood panelling and gilt-framed mirrors reflect both daylight and chandelier glow as evening approaches. Heavy silk drapes frame each window, adding theatrical drama that suits everything from black-tie galas to festive corporate parties. We can accommodate 250 guests for cocktail receptions, with plenty of room for mingling beneath the chandeliers. For seated dinners, we arrange up to 140 guests at round tables dressed in crisp linens. The space transforms beautifully, whether you envision a formal banquet with silver service or a relaxed party atmosphere with live music and dancing. Our events team regularly reconfigures the room, from theatre-style seating for 220 to more intimate cabaret arrangements. The Empire Room connects seamlessly to our other function spaces, allowing parties to flow between rooms as the evening progresses. Many hosts start with welcome drinks here before moving to the Winter Garden for dinner, or vice versa. Being directly opposite Marylebone station means your guests arrive easily, while our 300 bedrooms provide convenient accommodation for those travelling from further afield. Our in-house catering draws from the Great Central Restaurant's modern European menu, adapted to suit your celebration style. From champagne and canapés to multi-course feasts, we handle every culinary detail within these magnificent Victorian walls.
