Down in the basement of Waxy O'Connor's Glasgow, you'll find the Guinness Bar, where mosaic floors tell stories beneath your feet and curious artifacts line the walls like pieces of a forgotten museum. This is where we host the parties that need their own rhythm, away from the main crowds but still connected to the energy pulsing through the building above. The timber bar runs along one wall, its surface polished by countless celebrations, while festive banners hang overhead and warm lighting casts shadows across the unusual objects we've collected over the years. A proper fireplace crackles in the corner, the kind that makes people naturally gather round with their drinks, especially when the Glasgow weather turns bitter outside. We can fit 120 people standing comfortably, which works brilliantly for company celebrations where teams want to hear each other speak without shouting, or birthday parties where the guest of honour prefers something more personal than our massive main floors. The space has its own private bar, so your group never waits long for drinks, and our kitchen sends down sharing platters that disappear faster than we can replenish them. You can feel the live bands from the Church Bar through the ceiling, just enough vibration to remind everyone there's a party happening, but quiet enough that speeches and toasts actually get heard. The flatscreen TV gets switched on for big matches or presentations, and our Wi-Fi keeps everyone connected when they need to share those inevitable party photos. Being in the city centre means your guests can stumble out onto West George Street and find their way home easily, with parking nearby for those driving. The whole space is wheelchair accessible too, because everyone deserves a proper night out in a Glasgow basement bar that feels like it belongs in another era entirely.
