Tucked away from the main thoroughfare of our historic building, the Reading Room offers something rather special for your celebration. Rich wood paneling wraps around leather chesterfield sofas and armchairs, creating distinct conversation areas where your guests naturally gather. The chandeliers cast a warm glow across the space as evening falls, though during daytime events, light pours through the tall windows overlooking University Avenue. We can arrange seating for 70 guests theatre-style when you need everyone facing forward, though most parties work better with our cabaret layout for 36. The furniture arrangement creates intimate pockets throughout the room, perfect when you want guests mixing rather than sitting in formal rows. Many hosts use this as their cocktail reception space before moving through to our larger rooms for dinner. The room's character really shines during evening celebrations. Those original period features, the wood panels and traditional furnishings, create an atmosphere you simply can't replicate in modern venues. We've installed a full PA system and projector for speeches or photo montages, and yes, you can absolutely bring your own playlist or DJ to keep the mood exactly as you want it. Our kitchen team handles everything from canapés during drinks receptions to full buffets if you're keeping the entire party in here. We cater for all dietary requirements, halal, vegan, gluten-free, just let us know what your guests need. The bar service runs smoothly from our main bars, with staff bringing drinks directly to the room. Getting here couldn't be easier. We're right on University Avenue with paid parking nearby, and the building has full accessibility throughout. The West End location means your guests have plenty of transport options, whether they're coming from across Glasgow or further afield.
