We've opened up every corner of Bar 1790 for your exclusive use, from the main bar where George Sandeman's loading bay once stood to the intimate alcoves carved from original barrel storage rooms. Portuguese tiles catch the light as your guests move between spaces, while our signature red chandeliers transform from subtle daytime accents to dramatic evening focal points overhead. The Full Area accommodates 80 guests for standing receptions or 50 seated around our dark wood tables that echo the port casks once stored here. Original stone arches divide the space naturally, creating perfect spots for different moments throughout your event - cocktails by the bar, conversations in the former barrel rooms, speeches beneath the exposed beams. The acoustics from centuries-old brickwork mean no microphone needed when you raise a glass for toasts. Our Head Chef Toby Lever's Portuguese menu becomes the talking point at every gathering - those cod croquettes with romesco sauce disappear within minutes, while platters of paper-thin Iberico ham and sizzling Padron peppers keep conversations flowing. The bar stocks Portuguese wines you won't find elsewhere in the City, plus ports from every decade since we reopened. Our team can arrange wine tastings that tell the story of this historic space, or cocktail masterclasses featuring our Sandeman Sour. Natural light streams through large windows during daytime events, highlighting vintage port posters that chronicle our building's trading history.
