Down those worn stone steps, past the bustle of our main dining room, you'll find the Small Vault tucked away like a secret worth keeping. The temperature drops a few degrees as you descend, and suddenly you're in this wonderfully intimate space where twenty of your closest friends can gather around one long table without the world intruding. Those arched brick ceilings have watched countless celebrations unfold, from publishers toasting new book deals to families marking milestone birthdays. The exposed brickwork isn't just for show, it's part of what makes conversations here feel different, more conspiratorial somehow. We've arranged rich red leather chairs around the table, their colour echoing the warmth of the walls, while the classic checkered floor grounds the whole space in proper British tradition. The lighting down here deserves a mention, soft enough to flatter everyone but bright enough that you can actually read the menu without squinting. The brass fixtures catch and throw light in interesting ways, creating an atmosphere that photographers love and guests remember. The acoustics work brilliantly too, you can hear your dinner companion perfectly without raising your voice, even when the laughter gets going. Being right beneath Covent Garden means you get all the energy of the area without any of the interruptions. Your guests can arrive via the piazza, maybe catching a glimpse of the street performers, then disappear downstairs into this completely different world. We've hosted everything from corporate strategy sessions that needed absolute privacy to surprise engagement dinners where the ring appeared with dessert. The Small Vault transforms depending on what you need, formal dinners, working lunches, celebration feasts, each event takes on its own character down here.
