The vaulted brick ceilings of our Crypt create an atmosphere that photographs never quite capture. Eight windows pierce the historic walls, throwing light across the original parquet floors in patterns that shift throughout the day. We've watched this underground space transform for hundreds of events, each one bringing its own energy to these 18th-century arches. The exposed brickwork serves as both backdrop and feature, particularly striking when uplighters wash the curves of the ceiling during evening receptions. We can arrange the space for 300 guests with drinks in hand, or seat 150 for a formal dinner beneath the vaults. For presentations and conferences, theatre-style seating accommodates 200, while cabaret layout works beautifully for 120 when you need tables for networking or workshops. Our adjoining Well area gives you options. Some clients use it as a welcome space where guests gather before entering the main Crypt. Others set up break-out sessions here, or simply keep it as somewhere quieter for conversations away from the main event. The architectural features continue through both spaces, maintaining the historic character throughout. We provide the technical basics: WiFi runs throughout, projectors and screens are ready for presentations, and our PA system handles everything from conference microphones to party playlists. The stage becomes a focal point for speakers, bands, or ceremonial moments. As a dry hire venue, you choose your own caterers, decorators and entertainment, working with suppliers who understand your vision. Transport couldn't be simpler. Farringdon, Barbican and Chancery Lane stations all sit within walking distance, while buses stop practically outside. The Clerkenwell location means your guests can easily reach us from anywhere in London, yet once they descend into the Crypt, the city feels pleasantly distant.
