The Library epitomises everything we love about Merchant Taylors' Hall, with its floor-to-ceiling bookshelves housing centuries of collected volumes and that magnificent crystal chandelier casting warm light across the rich wood paneling. We find this room works brilliantly for intimate celebrations, where the deep red chairs and polished wooden tables create an atmosphere that feels both grand and welcoming. Our guests often choose The Library for milestone birthday dinners, anniversary parties, or engagement celebrations. The space comfortably hosts 30 for a seated banquet or 40 for drinks receptions, and we've seen some wonderful cocktail parties here where guests naturally gather around the tables, drinks in hand, surrounded by leather-bound books. The patterned carpet and luxurious drapes add warmth to the space, while the scholarly atmosphere gives your gathering a distinctive character you won't find elsewhere. Being part of our historic building means The Library benefits from all our facilities, including our Great Kitchen where everything is prepared fresh. We can arrange anything from canapés and champagne to a full three-course dinner, with service tailored to your celebration. The room's boardroom table configuration works particularly well for wine tastings or whisky evenings, where we've hosted some memorable gatherings. Access couldn't be easier, we're right in the heart of the City with Bank and Liverpool Street stations nearby. Once your guests step through our medieval archway off Threadneedle Street, they're transported into our peaceful haven. The Library connects seamlessly with our other spaces too, so you might start with welcome drinks here before moving to the Drawing Room or Courtyard Garden as your celebration unfolds.
