Blue walls the colour of twilight frame The River Room, where Hammersmith Bridge fills the windows like a painting that changes with the tides. We've hosted countless celebrations up here on the first floor of The Blue Anchor, and guests always pause when they first walk in, drawn to those panoramic Thames views that stretch beyond the bridge. The space holds 60 for standing receptions or 30 seated around tables for dinner, with enough room between furniture for natural conversation flow. Maritime touches reflect our riverside heritage - vintage oars mounted on walls, a nautical painting above the fireplace, and that original chandelier we rescued from a Thames barge decades ago. Deep cushions in jewel tones soften the wooden benches along the walls, while the mix of seating creates different zones for mingling. Our private bar stocks the same local craft ales and premium spirits as downstairs, so your bartender can mix whatever your guests fancy without trips to the main pub. The projector and PA system tuck discretely into corners when not needed, though plenty of corporate groups use them for presentations before switching to celebration mode. Natural light pours through those river-facing windows during afternoon parties, then as evening arrives, the chandelier and wall sconces create a warmer glow. The original fireplace anchors one end of the room beneath an ornate mirror that's witnessed every kind of party since Victorian times. We configure the space differently depending on your event - long tables for birthday dinners, cocktail setup for engagement parties, or theatre-style rows when companies book presentations. Being just minutes from Hammersmith tube means guests arrive easily, following Lower Mall along the riverbank to find us at number 13.
