Step through the heavy wooden doors and discover The Undercroft, where centuries-old brickwork and soaring vaulted ceilings create an extraordinary party space beneath St Mary Magdalene's Church. This atmospheric subterranean venue transforms from a historic architectural gem into your perfect celebration space, whether you're planning a milestone birthday, corporate reception, or intimate wedding party. The exposed brick arches frame the room beautifully, their warm tones enhanced by carefully placed candlelight that casts dancing shadows across the medieval stonework. We've preserved the original character whilst ensuring modern comfort, with flexible layouts that work brilliantly for both seated dinners of 80 guests or lively standing receptions for up to 150 people. The sturdy pillars throughout the space, rather than being obstacles, become natural dividers for different areas, perhaps a cocktail zone here, a dance floor there. Our in-house catering team crafts menus to match your vision, with halal, vegan and gluten-free options readily available. The bar stays open until 11pm under our alcohol licence, keeping glasses filled as your celebration flows into the evening. You're welcome to bring your own DJ to fill these ancient arches with whatever soundtrack suits your party, the acoustics here are particularly impressive for live music and dancing. Getting here couldn't be easier, we're moments from Royal Oak Station, with the charming waterways of Little Venice just nearby. Full accessibility runs throughout, with lift access and step-free routes ensuring every guest can join the festivities comfortably. The combination of historic atmosphere and practical amenities makes The Undercroft particularly special for those seeking somewhere genuinely different, where Gothic grandeur meets contemporary celebration in the heart of Paddington.
