The basement hum of Duke Street filters down as you descend into our world, where exposed brick meets the scent of seitan wings crisping in the kitchen. Taking over the Whole Venue means claiming every corner of Down the Hatch, from the booths tucked against weathered walls to the bar crowned with its collection of spirit bottles and neon glow. We built this space to prove plant-based food deserves better than compromise, and our parties run on that same principle. The room holds 70 of your people standing, cocktails in hand, or seats 60 around our wooden tables for proper sit-down celebrations. Corporate teams book us out for launches where everyone actually wants to eat the food, couples transform the space for wedding receptions with dogs as ring bearers, and birthday groups take over every booth until closing. The brick walls and wooden beams weren't chosen for Instagram, they were already here when we found the place, but they create the kind of atmosphere where formal events loosen their ties and casual parties feel special. Our bar runs the full vegan programme, mixing cocktails with aquafaba foam and keeping the spirits animal-product free. The PA system handles speeches or playlists, while air conditioning keeps things comfortable even when the dance floor fills up. Food arrives from our kitchen throughout your event, not some rushed buffet but the same loaded fries and plant-based burgers we serve every night. We sort packages based on what your group actually wants to eat and drink, working around dietary needs beyond just keeping things vegan. The Ropewalks location puts you walking distance from the city centre, with parking spots scattered nearby for those driving in. Just remember we're underground, so wheelchair access isn't currently possible, though we run collection with a discount for anyone who can't navigate our stairs.
