The Wellcome East room opens up as a proper gallery space, with those grand Georgian windows letting Edinburgh's changing light play across the artwork and sculptures that line our walls. We've arranged 60 plush red chairs in neat rows for theatre-style presentations, though we often reconfigure them around tables for board meetings of 30 or set up cabaret rounds when groups want more interaction during their sessions. Our venue's original chandeliers hang from the high ceilings, providing warm lighting that complements the natural daylight streaming through the windows. The blue patterned carpet creates a professional atmosphere while the deep red chairs add warmth to the space. For standing receptions, we can accommodate up to 80 guests who often end up deep in conversation beside the classical sculptures or admiring the paintings between networking. The dedicated servery area connects directly to the room, which our catering team finds particularly useful when serving working lunches or afternoon tea breaks. We've installed a full sound system and projector that work reliably for presentations, and the WiFi reaches every corner of the room, even when we're at full capacity. Our lift provides access to all floors, and the room itself accommodates wheelchairs comfortably. George Street puts us right in Edinburgh's business district, with Waverley Station just a 10-minute walk away. Many of our regular clients appreciate being able to step out onto George Street for lunch or bring international speakers straight from the train. The room connects to Wellcome West through double doors, which we sometimes open up for larger conferences that need breakout space or when groups want to separate their catering area from their main meeting room.
