The Great Hall commands attention from the moment you step inside, with soaring ceilings and graceful arched windows that flood the space with natural light. We've hosted countless conferences here, from international academic symposiums to corporate AGMs, and the room never fails to impress delegates with its blend of historical architecture and modern functionality. Our venue can accommodate 720 attendees in theatre-style seating, with 580 on the main floor and 140 in the balcony, giving everyone clear sightlines to the stage. The acoustics were designed specifically for lectures and presentations, so whether you're addressing 50 or 700 people, every word carries clearly to the back row. We've recently upgraded our audio-visual systems to support everything from simple PowerPoint presentations to complex multi-screen setups and live streaming. What makes this space particularly effective for conferences is how it connects to the rest of our facilities. During breaks, attendees can move seamlessly into the Refectory and Balcony areas for networking, while our 28 nearby classrooms serve perfectly as breakout rooms for workshops or parallel sessions. These smaller spaces seat between 20 and 120 people and can be arranged in U-shape, boardroom, cabaret or theatre configurations depending on your session requirements. The architectural details, including ornate moldings and the impressive organ, create a distinguished backdrop that photographs beautifully for corporate events. Our lighting system allows complete control over ambiance, from bright working light for note-taking to more atmospheric settings for keynote presentations. Getting here couldn't be easier, with both New Cross and New Cross Gate stations just a short walk away. The building offers full wheelchair accessibility with lifts to all floors and accessible facilities throughout. Our Conference Services team manages all technical requirements and room preparations, ensuring your event runs smoothly from first arrival to final departure.
