Our Victorian Council House has welcomed everyone from royalty to community groups through these grand doors since 1879. The Banqueting Suite itself tells quite a story - those intricate molded ceilings and tall arched windows have watched over countless celebrations, important meetings, and milestone moments for Birmingham. When you walk into the suite, you'll notice how the natural light pours through those original windows, giving you views straight across Victoria Square. We can arrange the space however works best for your event - whether that's round tables for 350 dinner guests, theater-style seating for conferences, or keeping the floor clear for 450 people at a drinks reception. The room transforms beautifully from morning board meetings to evening wedding receptions. Our kitchen team works with local suppliers to create menus that match your event perfectly. They've catered everything from formal civic dinners to relaxed celebration buffets, and they're particularly good at working around dietary requirements. Since we're licensed for civil ceremonies, many couples choose to say their vows here and then move straight into their reception - no need for guests to travel between venues. We've kept the Victorian character while adding the practical bits you need - there's Wi-Fi throughout, a built-in PA system, projection equipment, and lift access to all floors. The Grade II* listing means we maintain these spaces carefully, but they're very much working rooms, not museum pieces. You'll find us right in Birmingham's civic heart, practically on top of the Town Hall tram stop. New Street Station is a ten-minute walk, and there are several car parks within a five-minute stroll. Most taxi drivers know exactly where the Council House is - just tell them Victoria Square.
