The smell of freshly made Chicken Kiev drifts from our open kitchen as guests settle into their evening at Coin Laundry on Exmouth Market. We've transformed this two-floor space in Clerkenwell into something a bit different - part neighbourhood bar, part restaurant, and completely dedicated to bringing back the best bits of the 70s. Our basement bar draws people in with its pinball machine lighting up the corner and shelves stacked with retro board games that actually get played. Down here, we can fit 60 of you seated around tables or 90 standing with drinks in hand. The space comes with its own private bar, plus we've installed a projector and sound system that work brilliantly for wedding speeches or birthday toasts. The whole setup makes sense for parties - you're tucked away from the street with your own bartender and all the Backgammon boards you could want. Upstairs tells a different story. Our ground floor restaurant seats 86 comfortably, with that open kitchen creating theatre as our chefs prepare seasonal dishes. Yes, we really do have a live Chicken Kiev counter - it's become something of a talking point. For bigger celebrations, we open up both floors to accommodate 250 standing guests, perfect for wedding receptions where people want to move between dinner and dancing. We pour natural wines alongside house cocktails inspired by 70s classics (think Harvey Wallbangers done properly) and keep local craft beers on tap. Our events team works with you to create custom menus and drinks packages that fit your celebration. Beyond private parties, we host comedy nights in the basement and quiz nights that pack out the bar. The ground floor stays wheelchair accessible, and our outdoor seating stays open until 10pm when the weather cooperates. Angel station sits just around the corner, making the journey here straightforward for wedding guests or party crowds.
