Über Swedenborg House
The oak-panelled walls of Swedenborg Hall have witnessed countless lectures, performances and gatherings since this Georgian building first opened its doors. We're the headquarters of the Swedenborg Society, operating from a Grade II listed building on Bloomsbury Way that combines historical significance with modern meeting facilities. Our ground-floor Swedenborg Hall seats up to 100 people in a neoclassical lecture theatre setting. The space features original antique wooden chairs, oak panelling throughout, and pine flooring that adds warmth to presentations and performances. We've equipped the hall with a full HD projector and PA system for contemporary needs, while our Boston Steinway upright piano remains a favorite for recitals and musical events. Upstairs on the second floor, the David Wynter Room offers a more intimate setting for groups of up to 25. Natural light floods through the windows, illuminating our antique mahogany boardroom table where committees and small groups gather. The room houses the Swedenborg Collection from our library, with display cabinets showcasing key artefacts from our archives. We've installed an HD projector here too, along with a portable screen and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout. Recent visitors particularly appreciate our welcoming approach - we help set up projectors, provide screens, and ensure water is available for all meetings. Our ground-floor café proves popular with groups who often open tabs for their attendees to enjoy coffee throughout their sessions. Despite the building's age, we maintain comfortable temperatures year-round. Both spaces open for hire on weekdays and Saturdays, accommodating everything from academic lectures and screenings to business meetings and musical performances. Our bookshop and reading rooms remain accessible during most events, offering additional spaces for networking or quiet preparation.

We were a large group of 16 and the room was perfect for us.
The team at Swedenborg House were all very welcoming and nothing was an issue. They helped us sort out the projector and provided a screen as well as water.
