Our 19th-century pub in Camberwell has been serving up memorable celebrations since we transformed the upstairs into a dedicated party space. Chef Director Michael Davies runs the kitchen downstairs, where we prepare everything from scratch - the breads, pickles, and smoked fish all come from our own hands. When you book with us for your event, you're getting access to that same kitchen expertise, just in a more festive format. The private dining room upstairs gets flooded with natural light during daytime events, and at night, the space takes on a completely different character with our 2am license keeping the party going. We've kept the original pub features while adding a private bar just for your guests - no queuing or sharing with the regular crowd downstairs. The room works brilliantly for seated feasting menus with 40 people, though we can squeeze in up to 50 if needed. For drinks and dancing after dinner, we can fit 65 comfortably, or 60 if you're planning a standing reception from the start. Our menus change with what's good right now - you might get charred sprouting broccoli with tahini and za'atar in spring, or deep-fried mackerel with persimmon and chili when autumn rolls around. We work out the exact dishes closer to your date, but everything comes from our seasonal approach to cooking. Weddings tend to go for our full feasting experience, while birthday parties often mix seated dining with late-night drinks. Corporate groups appreciate having their own bar and the flexibility to transition from formal presentations to relaxed mingling. The ground floor stays open as our regular pub and restaurant, which means your guests can explore downstairs for a change of scene if they fancy it. Our events coordinator handles all the logistics, from menu tastings to timeline planning.
