Über The Marian Anderson
The Marian Anderson pub sits right between Angel and Farringdon stations, where we've created a proper home for celebrations of all kinds. Our independently owned venue honors the legendary contralto and civil rights activist Marian Anderson, and we like to think she'd approve of the warm community we've built here. Walk through our doors and you'll find yourself choosing between the fireside sofas near our traditional fireplace or settling into one of our other cozy seating areas spread across the wooden and parquet floors. We can accommodate up to 150 guests throughout our bright, traditional interior, making us just right for weddings and parties of various sizes. Our bar serves everything from craft beers to signature cocktails, with pints starting at £5.50 - we keep things affordable without compromising quality. While our kitchen undergoes restoration, we encourage guests to bring their own food, which actually works brilliantly for parties where you want specific caterers or homemade spreads. We've installed multiple HD televisions throughout the pub, though for weddings and private parties, we often use our stage area for live entertainment instead. Jazz nights have become particularly popular here, but we've hosted everything from wedding bands to DJs. Our audiovisual equipment stands ready for speeches, slideshows, or any presentations you might need. What sets us apart for events is our no-nonsense approach - we don't charge hire fees or demand minimum spends. Whether you're planning an intimate wedding reception, a milestone birthday, or a lively engagement party, we work with you to create exactly the celebration you envision. Our dedicated team handles the logistics while you focus on enjoying your special day with the people who matter most.
