Über The Old Courthouse
Our Victorian courthouse has been hosting meetings and presentations since we reopened the doors in 1967, after the judges moved to newer facilities. We're right across from the Royal Pavilion Estate, which means your attendees can grab lunch in the gardens or explore Brighton Museum during breaks. The main auditorium still has its original wood paneling and high windows that flood the space with natural light. We installed retractable tiered seating that accommodates 150 people theatre-style, though we often rearrange for smaller groups - 50 works perfectly in cabaret layout for workshops where people need table space, or 30 for boardroom discussions. The acoustics are surprisingly good thanks to the Victorian construction, making it ideal for presentations without everyone straining to hear. We've kept the period features while adding the essentials for modern meetings. The projector connects easily to laptops, we've got reliable Wi-Fi throughout the building, and the air conditioning keeps everyone comfortable even during packed summer seminars. Our conference call setup handles remote participants smoothly - we tested it extensively during the pandemic years. The space transforms well between different event types. Morning training sessions, afternoon lectures, evening performances - we've hosted them all. The standing reception capacity of 100 works particularly well for networking events after conferences. We don't have an in-house kitchen, but our approved caterers know the building well and can provide anything from working lunches to drinks receptions. Being part of the Royal Pavilion Estate means we can arrange combined events with the Museum & Art Gallery next door - several clients have used both venues for larger conferences. The location also puts you within walking distance of Brighton station and the city center.
