About Coal Hole
The Coal Hole at 91-92 Strand has been welcoming guests since 1903, and we're proud to share our Grade II listed building with you for your next dining experience or celebration. When you step through our doors, you'll find yourself in our L-shaped drinking hall with its original beamed ceiling and vine-themed frieze running along the walls – architect T.E. Collcutt really knew what he was doing when he designed this space. We've recently given the place a thoughtful refurbishment while keeping all the traditional character intact. Our terracotta fireplace still anchors the main bar area, creating that cozy pub atmosphere our regulars love. For dining, we serve up British classics with a focus on our specialty pies – the Chicken and Truffled Oyster Mushroom Pie is particularly popular. We also pour a rotating selection of cask ales from specialist breweries, perfect for pairing with your meal. For private parties and events, we have three distinct spaces available. Our Cellar Bar downstairs offers an intimate setting for twenty guests, while our mezzanine dining room provides a semi-private area overlooking the main pub. For larger celebrations, we can accommodate up to eighty people across our different areas. Whether you're planning a birthday party, reception, or corporate gathering, we'll work with you to create the right setup. You'll find us just a short walk from both Charing Cross and Covent Garden stations, making us easy to reach from anywhere in London. We've got free Wi-Fi throughout, and we show live sports on our screens when the big matches are on. Our kitchen serves lunch and dinner daily, and we're always happy to discuss menu options for group bookings.
