Working from converted Victorian prison cells might sound unusual, but at Cell Block Studios in Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard, we've transformed this Grade-1 listed Naval Prison into one of the most distinctive workspaces you'll find anywhere. Each original cell now serves as a private office, complete with modern desks, comfortable chairs, built-in shelving, and the high-speed WiFi that's essential for today's digital creative businesses. We've kept the historic character of the building while making it work perfectly for modern businesses. The thick stone walls mean excellent sound insulation between offices, and the cell doors have been adapted to give you privacy when you need it. Our members choose between taking a full desk in a shared cell, booking an entire cell as their private office, or using our hot-desking options throughout the communal areas. Beyond the cells themselves, we've created several breakout spaces where you can stretch your legs or have a change of scenery. The communal front-of-house area works brilliantly for informal meetings with clients or collaborators, and our meeting rooms are available whenever you need a more formal setting. The shared kitchen stays stocked with complimentary tea and coffee, becoming a natural hub where our community of freelancers and creative businesses connect throughout the day. We're open 9:00 am to 5:00 pm every day of the week, though Full Desk and Private Office members can access their spaces 24/7. Car parking is available on-site, subject to Ministry of Defence approval since we're located within the Historic Dockyard.
