About Lanes Hotel
Our restored former rectory in West Coker has been welcoming guests since we transformed this beautiful hamstone building into something quite special. The original architecture remains at the heart of Lanes Hotel, where we've carefully preserved period features while adding contemporary glass extensions that flood the spaces with natural light. We've created 30 distinct rooms across the property - 10 in the main rectory building, each with its own character and furnishings, plus 16 rooms in our modern wing where you'll also find the gym and spa. For longer celebrations or family gatherings, our four self-contained apartments offer proper kitchens and separate bedrooms, including a penthouse suite that guests particularly love for special occasions. The Brasserie has become known locally for working directly with Saunders' butchers for aged steaks and bringing in fresh fish from the Dorset coast. Our chef builds menus around what's available from nearby farms and suppliers, matching dishes with wines we've specifically chosen to complement the food. The bar stays busy with Somerset ciders on tap, cocktails we mix ourselves, and a solid collection of spirits and beers that keeps expanding based on what our regulars request. Our gardens spread across several acres, with fruit trees scattered throughout the lawns and willows creating shaded spots perfect for drinks receptions. The wooden bridge leads over to the paddock where our four goats live - they've become unofficial mascots and tend to appear in most wedding photos. We've hosted everything from 200-guest marquee weddings to intimate birthday dinners, with spaces that work equally well for dancing until dawn or quiet corporate presentations. The combination of original rectory rooms, modern facilities, and those unexpected touches like the resident goats makes each event here feel distinctly personal.
