The Fishpond sits right by the River Derwent gorge, just a short walk from Matlock Bath railway station. We're a proper free house that's been serving this community for years, and we take pride in creating the kind of atmosphere where wedding parties feel both special and completely at home. Our restored ballroom catches everyone's eye with its original vaulted ceiling - it's where most couples choose to say their vows, and we're fully licensed for civil ceremonies. The Raft Dining Room offers a more intimate option, also licensed for ceremonies, with its own character and charm. What makes us different is that we keep our doors open to our regular guests during weddings, which actually adds to the celebration. The pub buzzes with genuine local energy, though we do have those private spaces available if you prefer to keep things just for your party. We pour local cask ales alongside craft beers, traditional ciders, fine wines, and pretty much any spirit you can think of. Our kitchen team fires up proper wood-fired pizzas throughout the week, and on Sundays we serve a full carvery that's become something of a local institution. Everything on our bar menu changes with the seasons, and we work with suppliers who share our values about sourcing ingredients ethically. Thursday through Sunday, we host live music from local musicians who know how to read a room and keep the energy flowing. Our front-of-house team has worked countless weddings and private parties here - they know exactly when to step in and when to fade into the background.
