The old Ash Pits run through a series of railway arches where Victorian brickwork curves overhead, creating natural acoustics that modern venues spend fortunes trying to recreate. We've kept the original cobblestone floors and exposed brick walls that Brunel's engineers built, giving your event a backdrop you won't find in any purpose-built party space. Walking through our interconnected tunnels, you'll discover different zones that flow naturally from one arch to the next. The main area opens up around our raised stage, where bands perform beneath the curved ceiling that amplifies every note. During immersive theatre productions, performers use the shadowy alcoves and multiple levels to create scenes that unfold all around your guests. For club nights, the arches trap the bass and create an underground atmosphere that keeps people dancing until the early hours. Our lighting system works with the architecture rather than fighting it, picking out the texture of the brickwork and creating pools of colour that transform the space completely. The photo booth corner, tucked into one of the smaller arches with vintage railway props and illuminated signage, gives your guests somewhere playful to capture the night. We can accommodate 340 people for standing receptions or 200 seated, making the Ash Pits work equally well for corporate celebrations, birthday parties, or wedding receptions. The industrial setting means decorations stand out dramatically against the raw brick, whether you're going minimal or transforming the entire space. Temple Meads station sits directly above us, making arrival simple for guests coming by train. The venue's location in Bristol's creative quarter puts you right in the heart of the city's cultural scene, with our beer garden offering views of the station's clock tower when you need some fresh air between the underground festivities.
