The Basement at Three Eight Four becomes your own private cocktail den when you book it for your party. Down the stairs from the main bar, this space fits 30 guests standing or 20 seated around our reclaimed wooden tables, where the candlelight bounces off exposed brick walls and creates exactly the kind of atmosphere that makes people stay longer than planned. We've set up the room so it works however you want to use it. Those sturdy wooden tables can be arranged for a sit-down dinner where everyone shares our Mediterranean small plates, or pushed aside to create more room for dancing. The leather chairs are comfortable enough for long conversations, while the bar area with its high stools gives your guests somewhere to perch while our bartenders mix drinks from our 100-plus cocktail menu. You'll have your own sound system down here, so the playlist is entirely yours. The textured walls and warm lighting create that slightly underground feel that makes parties more interesting. We've kept the industrial touches from when we transformed this old curry house, but softened them with the kind of furniture that looks like it has stories to tell. Your guests can order anything from our full cocktail menu, including the Ziggy Stardust that everyone asks about, plus our kitchen will keep sending down plates of sticky rum chicken wings and smoked aubergine with pomegranate throughout the night. Being just off Coldharbour Lane means your friends can easily find us, and Brixton's transport links get everyone home safely afterwards. The basement works brilliantly for birthdays where you want something more interesting than a standard bar booking, engagement parties that feel properly celebratory, or any gathering where good cocktails and the right atmosphere matter more than following a formula.
