Walking through the heavy timber doors of Shears Yard feels like discovering a secret that Leeds has been keeping since the 19th century. This former rope and canvas warehouse on Wharf Street has traded its industrial past for a new life as one of the city's most distinctive dining destinations, though the building's working heritage remains beautifully preserved in every exposed brick and concrete surface. The whole venue spans an impressive open-plan space where original warehouse features create natural zones for dining and drinking. Those exposed brick walls, weathered by decades of Yorkshire weather, provide a textured backdrop that changes character throughout the day as Edison bulbs cast shifting shadows across the room. The poured concrete floors, polished to a subtle sheen, reflect the warm lighting while wooden tables and chairs add comfort without compromising the industrial aesthetic. We can accommodate 60 guests for seated dining or open the space up for 150 standing, with the flexibility to arrange furniture to suit your specific event. The layout naturally encourages movement and conversation, whether you're hosting a wedding reception in the main dining area or setting up a product launch that uses both bar and restaurant spaces.
