Our 19th-century rope and canvas warehouse on Wharf Street has been serving Leeds diners since we transformed this industrial space into Shears Yard. The original exposed brick walls and poured concrete floors tell the story of the building's working past, while Edison bulbs cast a warm glow across the dining room and bar. We've kept the open-plan layout that lets conversations flow between the bar and dining areas. During warmer months, our courtyard becomes an extension of the restaurant - it's where regulars often request their favorite tables when the sun's out. The space works just as well for a Tuesday lunch meeting as it does for Friday evening drinks. Our kitchen team changes the menu with the seasons, focusing on modern European dishes made with ingredients from local suppliers we've built relationships with over the years. The bar stocks a carefully chosen selection of wines, craft beers, and cocktails that complement what's coming out of the kitchen. When it comes to private dining and events, we can accommodate 80 standing guests or seat 60 comfortably. We host everything from corporate gatherings and product launches to wedding receptions and birthday parties. The entire venue is yours on Mondays and weekday lunchtimes, or you can reserve just our bar area most other days and evenings. The building is fully wheelchair accessible, and we're just a short walk from Leeds train station - helpful for guests coming from out of town. Whether you're planning a photoshoot that needs our industrial backdrop, organizing a company celebration, or looking for a private dining space for a special occasion, our team can work with you to make the space fit your needs.
