The Ellis Room sits tucked away from the grand opera house bustle, where deep burgundy walls meet polished mahogany panels that have witnessed countless conversations since our 1904 opening. We've preserved the original wood detailing while adding contemporary touches, creating a space that feels both distinguished and welcoming for your private gatherings. Rich patterned wallpaper in wine tones sets the mood here, complemented by carefully chosen artwork from our collection. Large windows frame views of the West End streets below, bringing natural light that shifts throughout the day, catching the gilt frames and warming the wood surfaces. The room transforms beautifully from morning board meetings to evening cocktail receptions. We can arrange seating for 16 around our boardroom table, where many productions have been planned and partnerships forged. For drinks receptions, the space opens up to accommodate 40 guests, with enough room for mingling while our catering team serves from the adjoining service area. The proportions work particularly well for presentations too, with clear sightlines from every corner. Our technical setup includes reliable Wi-Fi throughout and a PA system that handles everything from conference calls to background music for your celebrations. Air conditioning keeps the atmosphere comfortable year-round, particularly appreciated during summer events when the afternoon sun streams through those generous windows. Getting here couldn't be simpler, with Charing Cross and Leicester Square stations both within a five-minute walk. Many clients tell us they love having pre-event drinks in our American Bar downstairs before bringing their guests up to The Ellis Room for dinner or presentations. The contrast between the theatre's grand public spaces and this more personal room creates a memorable progression for any event.
