Über English National Opera London Coliseum
The moment you step through the doors of the London Coliseum, you're greeted by soaring Edwardian columns and ornate plasterwork that has watched over a century of performances. We're proud to be both the English National Opera and English National Ballet's home, with our 2,359-seat auditorium making us the largest theatre in London's West End. Our 2004 restoration brought new life to the original 20th-century features while ensuring modern comfort throughout. The stage here stretches wider than any other in London – something our production teams never tire of telling us when they're planning their most ambitious sets. While we're known for our operas and ballets, we've recently opened our spaces for private parties and events, giving groups the chance to experience this historic building in their own way. The American Bar has become a favorite spot for pre-show gatherings, where our bartenders mix classic cocktails alongside carefully chosen wines. We serve light bites too, opening 90 minutes before curtain up. For private events, you might prefer the Sky Bar with its elevated views, or the more intimate Ellis Room – both spaces that work beautifully for receptions, conferences, or celebrations. We've worked hard to ensure everyone can enjoy what we offer. Our Access Supervisors help guests find the wheelchair spaces throughout the auditorium, and we've installed adapted toilets on multiple levels. The building sits between Charing Cross and Leicester Square stations, making arrival straightforward whether you're coming for a performance, a meeting, or your own special event. Each space tells its own story within these walls, from grand galas in our foyer to focused presentations in our smaller rooms.
