Five centuries of conversation have echoed through The Council Chamber, and now it's ready for yours. This intimate wood-panelled room has witnessed everything from medieval councils to modern celebrations, with those same Whitefriars Glass windows that caught the light in 1504 still casting their coloured patterns across your gathering today. We've kept the character that makes this space special: the original plaques honouring Knights and Dames line the walls, while historical portraits watch over your proceedings with quiet dignity. Chandeliers and wall sconces create pools of warm light, perfect whether you're raising a toast at an intimate wedding reception or presenting to colleagues around the boardroom table. The Chamber works beautifully for groups who want something more personal. We can arrange seating for 12 around our boardroom configuration, expand to 25 for a seated dinner, or open the floor for 40 guests to mingle with drinks in hand. Theatre-style presentations work wonderfully for up to 30, while cabaret seating for 15 creates the perfect atmosphere for interactive workshops or tastings. Being licensed for ceremonies means couples can exchange vows where knights once made their oaths. Our in-house catering team knows how to work with this historic space, though you're welcome to bring your own alcohol if you prefer. Modern touches like Wi-Fi and sound equipment blend seamlessly into the medieval architecture, so your event runs smoothly without compromising the atmosphere.
