The Selkirk Room commands attention from the first moment, with its soaring ceilings and streams of natural light that transform throughout the day. We've hosted countless memorable gatherings here on the first floor, where the grand proportions create an atmosphere that feels both impressive and intimate. The polished wooden table anchoring the room has seated everyone from birthday celebrations to board meetings, comfortably accommodating up to 40 for dinner. We set it with our finest china and crystal, though the room's character really comes from those original architectural details, the intricate mouldings, classical portraits, and that magnificent fireplace flanked by display cabinets filled with club artifacts. The rich red carpeting and luxurious drapery add warmth without overwhelming the space. What works particularly well here is the flexibility. We regularly reconfigure the room from boardroom setup for morning meetings to U-shape for training sessions, or theatre style when groups need presentation space. For evening receptions, we can welcome up to 50 guests who naturally gather around the fireplace or by the windows overlooking the street below. The first-floor location offers a sense of removal from street level, creating that private atmosphere so many of our clients seek. Natural light pours through the large windows during daytime events, while evenings take on a more intimate character with our carefully positioned lighting highlighting the room's architectural features. Getting here couldn't be simpler, we're moments from Hyde Park Corner, with Victoria and Knightsbridge stations providing easy connections across London. Once your guests arrive at our neo-Georgian entrance, they'll find the Selkirk Room offers exactly the blend of historical character and practical functionality that makes events memorable for all the right reasons.
