Step into the State Room, where green silk walls and golden pilasters frame three centuries of celebration. This magnificent Georgian chamber fills with natural light streaming through tall windows, catching the crystal drops of our original chandeliers overhead. Around you, portraits of past Lord Mayors and royalty watch over gatherings just as they have since 1732. We've welcomed up to 100 guests here for standing receptions, with the room's generous proportions allowing everyone to move comfortably between conversations. For seated occasions, we arrange tables for 80, whether you're planning an elegant wedding breakfast or corporate dinner. The ornate plasterwork ceiling draws eyes upward, while our carefully restored Georgian details create an atmosphere you won't find anywhere else in York. The minstrel's gallery overlooking the room has hosted string quartets, jazz bands, and solo performers, with the acoustics carrying music beautifully throughout the space. Our venue-hire approach means you choose your own caterers, bringing in exactly the food and service style that suits your celebration.
