The Livery Hall makes quite an impression with its soaring oak-panelled walls and those remarkable stained glass windows featuring Shakespeare and Caxton. We've watched countless events unfold here since the 1600s, and the space continues to work brilliantly for modern celebrations. Four hundred guests can mingle comfortably during drinks receptions, while seated dinners work beautifully for up to 200. The original oak flooring has developed a wonderful patina over the centuries, and when candlelight flickers across the carved panelling, the whole room takes on this extraordinary warmth that photographers absolutely love. Our Minstrels' Gallery sits above the south end of the hall, where we've hosted everything from string quartets during wedding ceremonies to jazz bands that get everyone dancing later in the evening. The acoustics up there are superb, something the original builders seemed to understand instinctively. The stained glass windows do more than just look impressive. During afternoon events, they cast these wonderful patterns of coloured light across the room, and we've seen wedding photographers wait specifically for that golden hour when the sun hits them just right. The high ceilings mean the space never feels crowded, even at capacity, and those decorative banners add splashes of colour without overwhelming the historic features. We're right in the heart of the City, making arrival straightforward for your guests. The versatility here means we've hosted everything from corporate celebrations to wedding receptions, charity galas to anniversary parties. Live music, dancing, candlelight, it all comes together in this space that somehow manages to feel both grand and intimate. The hall connects seamlessly to our other rooms and garden, giving you options for different parts of your event. Many couples use the garden for pre-dinner drinks before bringing guests into the Livery Hall for the main celebration.
