The silk walls and hand-painted gold leaf catch the afternoon light beautifully in our 1880 Room, where crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling like frozen fireworks. We've hosted everything from champagne receptions to fashion shows in this space, and each time we're struck by how the blue and gold chairs seem to transform depending on the event—corporate by day, glamorous by night. With room for 100 guests at a standing reception or 60 for a seated dinner, we find the 1880 Room works brilliantly for cocktail parties where people want to mingle, or more formal occasions when you need everyone seated comfortably. The space adapts to your needs, whether that's 30 executives around our boardroom table, 60 guests in theatre-style rows, or 26 in a U-shape for interactive workshops. For training sessions, we can accommodate 35 in classroom style with plenty of room for materials and movement. The technical setup includes everything you'd expect—Wi-Fi that actually works, a projector for presentations, and a flatscreen TV for video content. What sets the room apart is how these modern touches blend seamlessly with the period features. Natural light streams through the windows, though we can adjust the atmosphere with our lighting system when evening events call for something more intimate. Our in-house catering team knows this room inside out, from where to position canapé stations for optimal flow to the perfect dinner service route. You're welcome to bring your own DJ or band—the acoustics handle both background jazz and livelier party music equally well. Air conditioning keeps everyone comfortable regardless of the season or guest numbers. You'll find us just moments from Gloucester Road Station, with Harrods practically on the doorstep and the Victoria and Albert Museum a short stroll away. Sloane Street and Kings Road offer endless options for guests arriving early or staying late, making the 1880 Room particularly convenient for events that spill beyond these walls.
