The Reading & Writing Room commands attention from the moment you step inside, with its soaring Victorian ceilings and magnificent chandelals casting warm light across the space. We're particularly proud of the impressive murals that grace our walls, each one a piece of history that has watched over countless celebrations and gatherings throughout the decades. Your guests will be drawn to the floor-to-ceiling windows, dressed in rich red curtains, where they can take in views of Whitehall Gardens and the River Thames. On clear days, you can spot the London Eye turning slowly against the skyline while St. Paul's dome rises in the distance. The ornate columns and detailed woodwork create natural conversation areas, perfect for drinks receptions where up to 280 guests can mingle comfortably. When it comes to seated events, we can accommodate 120 for formal dinners, with the parquet flooring beneath providing excellent acoustics whether you're planning speeches or live music. The room connects seamlessly with the Gladstone Library next door, giving you the flexibility to expand your celebration across both spaces for larger gatherings. Our audiovisual setup, provided by Eclipse Presentations, handles everything from wedding slideshows to corporate presentations without a hitch. The in-house catering team knows these rooms inside out, timing service perfectly around the natural flow of your event. You're welcome to bring your own DJ, and with our wedding licence, we can host your ceremony right here too. Getting here couldn't be easier, with Embankment and Charing Cross stations just minutes away. The room forms part of the Royal Horseguards Hotel, so overnight guests have 282 rooms at their disposal, including some rather special suites for your VIPs.
