The Ballroom spreads out beneath a magnificent glass dome that transforms throughout the day, from morning light streaming across polished wooden floors to evening shadows dancing between our original chandeliers. This Georgian masterpiece has welcomed generations of Edinburgh celebrations since 1749, and we continue that tradition with the same sense of occasion. Our sprung floor remembers the steps of countless ceilidhs, where up to 180 guests have spun beneath the dome in traditional Scottish reels. The deep blue paneling and intricate wall patterns create an intimate atmosphere despite the room's grand proportions, while those original chandeliers cast the kind of light that makes everyone look their best in photographs. For seated dinners, we arrange round tables for up to 150 guests, each set with fine china and glassware that complements the room's heritage. The versatile space adapts beautifully, whether you're planning a formal wedding breakfast or clearing the floor for an evening of dancing. Our experienced team knows exactly how to work with the natural acoustics, ensuring speeches carry clearly and music fills the space without overwhelming conversation. The dome itself becomes part of your celebration, shifting from bright afternoon ceremonies to atmospheric evening receptions. Many couples choose to exchange vows directly beneath it, while corporate clients use the natural focal point for presentations and award ceremonies. The combination of period features, from the intricate cornicing to the warm wood floors, creates a backdrop that needs little additional decoration. Transport couldn't be simpler in Edinburgh's south city centre, with excellent bus routes and nearby parking options. The Ballroom connects seamlessly to our lounge bar, allowing your guests to flow between spaces for drinks and networking while we transform the room between dinner and dancing.
