Four centuries of tradition come alive when you step into The Speech Room, our most dramatic space here at Harrow School. Those striking red columns and soaring arches have witnessed everything from school assemblies to spectacular wedding receptions since 1871, and we're rather proud of how this Victorian masterpiece adapts to modern celebrations. The tiered seating rises amphitheatre-style across eight levels, creating natural drama whether you're planning a concert, awards ceremony or theatrical performance. We can accommodate 550 guests in traditional theatre seating, though most of our party hosts prefer the more intimate arrangements, perhaps 130 for a seated dinner beneath those ornate ceilings, or 200 mingling with champagne during standing receptions. Our Steinway grand piano sits ready for performances (just let us know if you'd like to use it), while the historic organ adds another layer of musical possibility. We've carefully integrated contemporary technology throughout, Bose surround sound speakers deliver crystal-clear audio to every corner, and our projection system handles everything from wedding videos to corporate presentations. The lighting transforms beautifully too, from bright and celebratory to soft and romantic as your evening unfolds. Getting here couldn't be simpler, just five minutes' walk from Harrow-on-the-Hill station brings you to our hilltop location. Our experienced kitchen team handles catering with the same attention to detail we bring to every aspect of your event, though you're welcome to bring your own wine selection if you prefer. The combination of Victorian grandeur and modern functionality makes The Speech Room particularly suited to milestone celebrations, charity galas, cultural events and weddings where you want your guests to feel they're part of something special. After all, hosting your celebration where Churchill once walked these very floors does add a certain something.
