Christie's Bistro transforms from beloved campus café to extraordinary party venue when the academic day ends. We're proud to host celebrations in what was once the Science Library of Owens College, where original oak paneling and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves create an atmosphere unlike any other Manchester venue. Picture your wedding reception here, with round tables dressed in rich red and black linens positioned between towering columns. Our grand hall accommodates up to 300 guests for cocktail receptions, while seated dinners for 150 feel wonderfully intimate despite the soaring ceilings above. The scholarly setting adds unexpected magic to first dances, with portraits of former Vice-Chancellors becoming silent witnesses to your celebration. Natural light pours through tall windows during afternoon gatherings, while evening events take on a romantic glow from our ornate candelabras. The original bookcases, still filled with colorful academic volumes, provide fascinating talking points for guests exploring the space between courses.
