Our 18th-century Summerhouse stands like a Roman temple amongst the ancient trees of Castle Park, its blue and white columns creating the perfect frame for your wedding ceremony. Just behind Colchester Castle, this architectural gem has been hosting intimate celebrations since Georgian times, and we've carefully preserved every detail while adding the modern touches couples need today. Step through the columns into an open-air pavilion where nature becomes part of your celebration. We dress the space with fresh florals that complement the surrounding greenery, and the dappled sunlight filtering through the tree canopy creates the most beautiful natural lighting for photographs. The classical architecture gives your ceremony instant gravitas, while the park setting keeps everything relaxed and romantic. We can welcome up to 80 guests for standing receptions or arrange theatre-style seating for 20, making The Summerhouse perfect for those wanting their nearest and dearest to share this moment. Being fully licensed for civil ceremonies means you can exchange vows right here, surrounded by centuries of history and the tranquil beauty of our award-winning gardens. The surrounding parkland offers endless possibilities for your photographer, from tree-lined walkways to manicured gardens, all just steps from your ceremony space. Our in-house catering team serves everything from champagne toasts to full receptions, and we hold an alcohol licence until midnight for evening celebrations. Should the British weather have other plans, the Council Chamber inside the Town Hall provides an elegant indoor alternative.
