The Sunken Lounge draws you in the moment you enter, with its dramatic sunken centre creating a natural amphitheatre effect that transforms ordinary meetings into something more engaging. Our most distinctive space at the venue measures an impressive 35 by 14 metres, flooded with natural light from seven skylights overhead that create shifting patterns throughout the day. Original Art Deco features remain beautifully intact, from the chrome-stemmed globe lights to the colonnade that frames the sunken area. We've found this architectural quirk works brilliantly for presentations, as speakers naturally command attention from the lowered central space while delegates seated around the perimeter enjoy clear sightlines without craning their necks. Blue and grey chairs can be arranged however works best for your event. We regularly set up theatre-style for 300, though the space comfortably holds 400 for standing receptions. For workshops or training sessions, the cabaret layout for 200 creates natural discussion groups while maintaining that sense of connection across the room. The portable chrome lighting standards, designed like bunches of tulips, add character while providing practical task lighting for note-taking or laptop work. Our adjustable coloured lighting system helps shift the atmosphere from focused morning sessions to relaxed afternoon workshops, all controlled from a simple panel. Being just off the M1 and M42 makes us easy to find, and East Midlands Airport sits just a short drive away for international delegates.
