The Association Room occupies what was once the medieval kitchen, its stone walls bearing centuries of stories within our historic building. We've preserved the room's most dramatic features: two commanding fireplaces dominate the space, with the larger one showcasing a beautifully crafted joggled lintel and soaring relieving arch that draws the eye upward to the double-height ceiling. Red curtains frame the arched windows, softening the ancient stonework while natural light plays across the exposed ceiling beams throughout the day. The rich carpet underfoot adds warmth to the stone surroundings, creating a balance between the room's medieval bones and its modern purpose. When the School transformed into a Music School in 1969, we carefully converted this space to serve contemporary needs while honouring its heritage. For board meetings, we configure the room to seat 24 around our table, with those historic fireplaces providing a remarkable backdrop for strategic discussions. Theatre-style presentations work beautifully here too, accommodating 35 delegates who appreciate the acoustic qualities the stone walls naturally provide. The projector and PA system integrate seamlessly into the space, while our Wi-Fi keeps everyone connected despite the medieval walls. The versatility extends to dining arrangements, where 24 guests can enjoy banquet-style seating beneath the vaulted ceiling. For less formal gatherings, the room comfortably holds 60 standing guests, perhaps for a drinks reception or networking session. The combination of height, light, and historical texture creates conversations as naturally as the stone walls create atmosphere. Our location in Manchester's Medieval Quarter, at Long Millgate, M3 1SB, puts you within easy reach of public transport links.
