The Fish Tank draws its name from Douglas Adams' famous dolphins, and the "So long & thanks for all the fish" sign on the wall sets the tone for what we've created here. This private room sits next to our Garden Room, making it versatile as either a standalone meeting space for 14 people or a breakout area when you're running larger sessions. We've arranged the room around a substantial wooden table with comfortable blue chairs, creating the right environment for focused discussions. The space works equally well for board meetings, team briefings, or working lunches. A compact kitchenette keeps coffee and tea within arm's reach throughout your session, and we've installed full AV facilities for presentations. The warm lighting and carefully chosen artwork create an atmosphere that's professional yet relaxed, quite different from sterile corporate meeting rooms. While there aren't windows, the lighting design ensures the space feels welcoming rather than enclosed. Local businesses particularly appreciate having somewhere that doesn't feel like their usual office environment. Being just four minutes' walk from Newbury station makes logistics straightforward for teams traveling from different locations. Cross Country trains stop here via Reading, and we have our own car park if people are driving. The M4 and A34 are both nearby for those coming from further afield. Our gastropub heritage means your meeting catering goes well beyond standard sandwiches. We prepare fresh breakfast and lunch options from our seasonal menu, and the bar's available afterwards for informal catch-ups over craft beers or carefully selected wines. The heated garden huts and pergola offer alternative spaces for breaks or continuing conversations outside. For multi-day sessions, we have five boutique bedrooms upstairs with rainfall showers and comfortable beds, so your team can stay on-site rather than dispersing to different hotels.
