Walking into our Crypt beneath the church, visitors often pause mid-sentence, surprised by how bright and welcoming this below-ground space feels. We've carefully preserved the original stone foundations from 1729, their weathered texture telling centuries of stories, while light oak panelling runs along the walls, warming the space considerably. The room's flexibility constantly impresses our clients. Those soundproof folding walls mean we can create intimate boardroom settings for 40 or open everything up for networking events hosting 300 guests. Last week, we configured half the space for presentations while keeping the other section as a breakout area, the stone columns creating natural divisions between zones. Our in-house AV system handles everything from PowerPoint presentations to video conferences, with technicians on-site throughout your event. The underfloor heating keeps everyone comfortable year-round, particularly appreciated during winter board meetings when the stone would otherwise feel chilly. Natural light filters down through the skylights, supplemented by adjustable lighting that transforms the atmosphere from bright morning workshops to softer evening gatherings. The bar area tucked into one corner serves as a natural focal point during breaks. Many groups use it for morning coffee service before transitioning to afternoon refreshments. For seated dinners, we accommodate 50 guests comfortably, while theatre-style presentations work beautifully for groups up to 60. Getting here takes just minutes from Aldgate East Station, with Liverpool Street and Aldgate stations equally close for those coming from different lines. The space surprises first-time visitors who expect a dark basement but discover instead this bright, versatile room where historic architecture meets every modern meeting requirement.
