Five ViewSonic projectors bathe our 900-square-foot space in light, transforming blank walls into canvases for digital art and immersive storytelling. We've built ARTBOX in Birmingham's Digbeth district as a playground for creative minds—a place where technology meets artistic vision in ways that surprise even us sometimes. Our venue started as an experiment in what happens when you give artists proper projection mapping tools and let them run wild. Now we host regular immersive shows where performers interact with responsive visuals, creating experiences you won't find in traditional venues. The space itself adapts to whatever you throw at it—we've seen everything from experimental theater pieces to electronic music performances where the walls pulse with the beat. When we're not running our own shows, we open the doors for others to use this creative sandbox. Music video directors love how the projectors can create instant set changes without physical props. Photographers book us for shoots that need otherworldly backgrounds. Workshop leaders use the space to teach everything from VR development to movement therapy, taking advantage of how the technology can respond to participants in real-time. The technical setup gives you serious flexibility—each projector can run independently or sync together for wraparound visuals. We've positioned them to eliminate shadows when people move through the space, something we learned the hard way during our first dance performances. The 900 square feet might sound compact, but the projection mapping makes it feel infinite. Getting here is straightforward—we're just 0.4 miles from Birmingham New Street Station, tucked into Digbeth where the creative energy of the city concentrates. Our neighbors include artist studios and independent galleries, making this whole area a destination for anyone interested in Birmingham's creative scene.
