The pasta machine sits pride of place in our kitchen window at Ombra - guests often stop to watch as we roll out fresh sheets of tagliatelle and shape each piece of ravioli by hand. Since opening in 2011 on Vyner Street, just steps from the Regent's Canal, we've become a gathering spot for neighbours who appreciate honest Italian cooking and carefully chosen wines. Our chefs work directly with small farmers, both local and from Italy, selecting whatever's at its peak - perhaps Dorset asparagus in spring or Sicilian blood oranges come winter. The menu changes with these discoveries, though you'll always find our handmade pasta at the heart of things. We offer a three-course menu at £45 per person, or for those wanting to explore further, our tasting menu at £65 showcases the best of what's coming through the kitchen that day. The wine list reflects our love for low-intervention Italian producers - small vineyards making wine the way their grandparents did, with minimal fuss and maximum character. We keep a few bottles from other regions too, chosen with the same care. Our heated, covered terrace has become particularly popular for private celebrations. Protected from the elements, it creates an intimate setting whether you're hosting a birthday dinner or company gathering. We work with each group to create bespoke feasting menus that suit the occasion - perhaps sharing platters of burrata and prosciutto to start, followed by heaping bowls of our cacio e pepe passed around the table. You'll find us open for lunch Wednesday through Sunday (12:00-15:00 weekdays, until 16:00 weekends) and dinner from 18:00 (closing at 22:00, except Sundays when we finish at 21:00). Cambridge Heath station is just a five-minute walk away.
