The Italianate columns and arched windows of our 1929 building frame views across Preston Park's Rose Garden, creating a backdrop that transforms throughout the seasons. At Rotunda Café Bar, we've been hosting Brighton's celebrations since transforming from a park pavilion into the community gathering space you see today. During daylight hours, we serve breakfast and lunch alongside proper coffee and a full selection of hot drinks. Our kitchen prepares everything from hearty traditional fare to lighter options, including vegan and gluten-free dishes. Dogs are more than welcome - we keep water bowls ready and often find ourselves with several four-legged visitors stretched out on our floors while their owners catch up over cake. When evening arrives, we shift gears completely. The space that served morning coffee becomes a party venue with our bar staying open until midnight. We host birthday celebrations for those 30 and over, anniversary parties, wedding receptions, retirement gatherings, wakes, and business functions. You can book the entire venue or reserve just a section, depending on your group size. Our monthly comedy nights pack the space with stand-up performers who've learned to work with our intimate room - the laughter carries right out to the rose garden. For other events, we can put you in touch with local bands who know our acoustics well, and our kitchen provides buffet spreads tailored to your gathering. The building itself, designed by architect Vertie MacLaren, combines practical function with those distinctive 1920s architectural flourishes. We've maintained the original character while ensuring everything works for modern celebrations - from the lighting that sets different moods to the layout that adapts for various group sizes.
