Raw brick walls and steel beams frame the creative energy that pulses through The Courtyard Theatre every night. We've been part of Shoreditch's artistic heartbeat for over thirty years, transforming the historic Passmore Library Building into one of London's most beloved fringe performance spaces. Our main theatre seats 150 people in an intimate setting where audiences feel connected to every performance. The exposed industrial architecture creates an atmosphere that amplifies whatever happens on stage - whether that's an emerging playwright's debut, a solo musician's acoustic set, or a thought-provoking panel discussion. We've recently added our 216-capacity Studio space, complete with professional soundproofing and a raised stage that brings bands and DJs closer to their crowds. Beyond performances, our White Room opens up possibilities for corporate gatherings, art exhibitions, and photo shoots. The bright, adaptable space works equally well for networking events as it does for rehearsals. We've watched countless creative projects come to life within these walls - from experimental theatre pieces to comedy nights that have launched careers. The Iambic Bar serves as the social hub where performers and guests mingle over carefully selected drinks. It's become tradition for audiences to arrive early and stay late, turning each event into an extended celebration of arts and culture. Our production company and digital channel mean we can now capture and stream performances, expanding our reach beyond these physical walls. We embrace everything from poetry slams to film screenings, maintaining our commitment to nurturing new talent while hosting established artists. Our Shoreditch location puts us at the crossroads of London's creative communities, making us accessible to both local artists and international visitors seeking authentic cultural experiences in the capital.
