The Magazine sits right where Kensington Gardens meets Hyde Park, a former gunpowder store from 1805 that we've transformed into one of London's most distinctive party venues. The building itself tells quite a story - originally designed to store munitions during the Napoleonic wars, then improved by Decimus Burton in the 1820s, it's witnessed over two centuries of London history, from the Great Exhibition of 1851 to revolutionary gatherings and royal celebrations. Today, we host everything from private dinner parties to product launches and cocktail receptions in this remarkable space. The late Zaha Hadid's contemporary design brings the building into the present with a flowing membrane roof and floor-to-ceiling glass walls that let daylight pour in throughout the day. The minimalist interior creates an open, airy feel that works beautifully with the parkland views - your guests often comment on how the space seems to breathe with the gardens outside. We can accommodate anywhere from 30 guests for an intimate gathering up to 200 for larger receptions. The venue works particularly well for evening events when the glass walls reflect the park lights, creating an almost magical atmosphere. Our outdoor seating area extends your party space during warmer months, and the entire venue is wheelchair accessible with free Wi-Fi throughout. Chef Tomas Kolkus has created a seasonal menu that changes with what's best from our suppliers - think Wye Valley asparagus with miso aioli, rope-grown mussels with urfa and rock samphire, or slow-roasted cauliflower with chickpea stew. We serve organic and biodynamic wines by the tap, which our environmentally-conscious clients particularly appreciate. Just a short walk from Lancaster Gate Station, we're open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM, though we arrange special evening access for private events.
