Step inside The Philharmonic Dining Rooms and you'll understand why Paul McCartney chose our pub for his surprise performance with James Corden in 2018. We're the Grade I listed Victorian pub at 36 Hope Street, right across from Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, where we got our name (though most locals just call us "The Phil"). Our building dates back to 1898-1900, when brewer Robert Cain commissioned Walter W. Thomas to create something extraordinary. The result? Five floors of musical-themed splendor with repoussé copper panels, elaborate plasterwork, and rich mahogany throughout. Even our Art Nouveau metal gates are considered among Britain's finest. And yes, the pink-marble gentlemen's toilets really are worth a peek - they're practically famous in their own right. We've built our reputation as Liverpool's premier pie house, with our kitchen team hand-crafting British classics like our Chicken and Truffled Oyster Mushroom Pie and the British Steak & Nicholson's Pale Ale Pie. Sunday roasts come with all the traditional trimmings, just as they should. Behind the bar, we pour Nicholson's Pale Ale alongside other carefully selected cask ales, and our Gin Palace features varieties to suit every taste. For parties and events, our first-floor dining room transforms into your private celebration space. Natural light floods through the windows, and with our private bar, you won't miss a moment queuing for drinks. We can seat 70 for dinner or accommodate 90 standing guests. The room comes equipped with Wi-Fi, projector, and PA system - everything you need for birthday parties, wedding receptions, conferences, or meetings. Between our Victorian grandeur, proper British food, and that unmistakable Liverpool atmosphere, we offer something you won't find anywhere else in the city.
