The Assembly Room at Oxford Town Hall brings together centuries of history with everything you need for a brilliant party. Walk past the impressive fireplace and you'll find yourself surrounded by wood paneling that's been witness to countless celebrations since Victorian times. Those intricate timber ceilings catch the light from our chandeliers beautifully, especially when we dim them for evening events. We've hosted every type of party imaginable here, from milestone birthdays where 200 guests mingled with drinks in hand, to intimate engagement celebrations with 140 seated around cabaret-style tables. The monumental oil paintings make quite the conversation starter, and when natural light streams through the large windows during afternoon gatherings, the whole room takes on this wonderful golden glow. For Christmas parties, we often set up banquet style for 140, leaving plenty of room for dancing later. Birthday celebrations work brilliantly with our theatre layout accommodating 160 guests, perfect when you want everyone facing the action. Need more space? We can open up into the Old Library next door, which gives you extra room for a bar area or quiet conversation spot. Our kitchen facilities mean your chosen caterers can work their magic properly, and the PA system handles everything from background music to party speeches.
